Bumper-to-bumper program announced for Red Centre NATS

17 April 2015

The official program for the 2015 Red CentreNATS has been released featuring a stellar Friday night ‘Rock N Rumble’ concert and bumper-to-bumper automotive action.

“Excitement is building around the inaugural Red CentreNATS from 3 -6 September with a great on and off road program to keep local and visiting rev heads entertained,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.

“There’s something in the program to whet the appetite of every car enthusiast including precision driving, street cruising, show n’ shine, judged competitions and an official Burnout Masters Qualifier.

“I’m also pleased to announce that one of Australia’s most loved rock bands, Chocolate Starfish, have set their sights on the event with a special one-off concert paying homage to Meatloaf’s ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ album.

“Chocolate Starfish have an envious back catalogue and the reputation for a rockin’ live show and I encourage everyone in Alice to get down for some great entertainment at Blatherskite Park.”

Territory favourites Dr. Elephant, led by Damien Wicks, are also set to rock alongside Chocolate Starfish.

The Red CentreNATS is proudly presented by the Northern Territory Government in association with the team from Australia’s favourite horsepower party – the Summernats.

“Red CentreNATS has really caught the imagination of motoring enthusiasts around the country with 130 registrations already received, five months out from the event. About half of these registrations are from interstate,” Mr Giles said.

People interested in entering are encouraged to make the most of the Early Bird Registration discount rate which is $50 until 31 May 2015.

The Territory Government is also giving entrants the unique opportunity to apply for Temporary Registration Permits to use Red CentreNATS road cruise routes around Alice Springs over the weekend.

“My Government is committed to building the Territory’s reputation as a home for top class motorsport events. That’s why Budget 2015 invests $1 million dollars in the Red CentreNATS, as well as $3.45 million to upgrade motorsports facilities across Central Australia and the Barkly,” Mr Giles said.

Spectator tickets are now on sale. A 3 Day Chrome Pass is $50 and covers entry to all Red CentreNATS events at Blatherskite Park & Alice Springs Inland Dragway including the Rock N Rumble concert. Single day tickets will be $20 per day.

Children 13 years and under will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Tickets are available now from www.redcentrenats.com.au.

They’ll also be available from outlets in Alice Springs from 4 August and at the gates over the Red CentreNATS weekend.

Start your engines for the Red CentreNATS

10 March 2015

Car lovers are getting behind the inaugural Red CentreNATS with 100 registrations and 200 expressions of interest already received six months out from the event.

“If you own a street machine, elite show car, hot rod, classic car or exotic you should get online and register to be part of this brand new Alice Springs event from 3-6 September this year,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.

“The Red CentreNATS is Australia’s newest automotive lifestyle festival – a motor show for those who love all things cars.

“The event will include something for everyone from precision driving and street cruising, through to show and shine, judged competitions, and an official Burnout Masters Qualifier.”

Red CentreNATS is proudly presented by the Northern Territory Government in association with the team from Australia’s favourite horsepower party – the Summernats.

“The Red CentreNATS will sit alongside existing iconic events the V8 Supercars and the Finke Desert Race. Both events make significant contributions to tourism by bringing thousands of interstate visitors, especially motoring and racing enthusiasts, to the Northern Territory,” Mr Giles said.

“This is our very own Territory motorsports event and I’m keen to see strong involvement from local residents either as participants, spectators or volunteers.”

Registration is $50 per vehicle and can be completed at www.redcentrenats.com.au

“The Red CentreNATS is shaping up to have a great first year. We’re still six months out and we already have 100 cars registered so numbers will be strong for the inaugural event,” Summernats Operations Manager Richard Holder said

“Most of these cars are from interstate and will bring approximately four people with them. It looks like Alice will be pretty busy on the Father’s Day weekend as these numbers continue to grow.

“Some of the special cars will include past Summernats Grand Champions, plus 20 of Australia’s top burnout cars battling it out for three direct qualification golden tickets to the Liqui-Moly Burnout Masters at Summernats 29."

The Red CentreNATS will use local sporting and entertainment venues such as Blatherskite Park and the Alice Springs Inland Dragway.

The event program and ticket prices will be released soon.

Turning the key on the Red CentreNATS

Chief Minister Adam Giles officially signed contracts today to bring the hugely successful Summernats brand to the Territory for the inaugural Red CentreNATS in 2015.

“I am thrilled to be turning the key on this fantastic new event that will showcase Central Australia and cement our reputation as a haven for car enthusiasts,” Mr Giles said.

The inaugural Red CentreNATS are proudly presented by the Territory Government in association with the team from the Summernats. They will be held from 3-6 September in Alice Springs.

“It’s great to be down at the Summernats and see Australia’s favourite horsepower party in full swing,” Mr Giles said

“They put on a great show to a huge and enthusiastic crowd and I hope we can generate the same excitement in Alice Springs in September.

Every year, up to 1800 of the toughest Australian elite street machines descend on Exhibition Park in Canberra for Summernats. These revheads show off their beloved cars to a crowd of over 100,000 people.

“It’s been a great opportunity to promote our event and encourage competitors here in Canberra to make the trip to Central Australia for the inaugural Red CentreNATS,” Mr Giles said.

The Red CentreNATS will showcase the very best in street machines, elite show cars, hot rods, classics, exotics and supercars.
Events will include precision driving, street cruising, show and shine, judged competitions and an official Burnout Masters Qualifier.

“The Red CentreNATS will be a new addition to the Territory’s strong motorsports calendar including the V8 Supercars and the Finke Desert Race,” Mr Giles said.

“Both events make significant contributions to tourism by bringing thousands of interstate visitors, especially motoring and racing enthusiasts, to the Northern Territory. I hope that the Red CentreNATS will build a similar following across the country.”

Andy Lopez, co-owner of the Summernats said the Nats team are really happy to be working with the Chief Minister, the Alice Springs community and the Northern Territory Government to put on the Red CentreNATS.

“It is going to be a unique automotive event, set in one a pretty awe-inspiring environment,” Mr Lopez said.

“One of the most special things about the Red CentreNATS is the ability for people to get their modified cars on the streets of Alice. People modify cars not just to show them off, but to drive them as well. Being able to drive on the road at the Red CenterNATS will be very attractive to participants.”

Individual entrants can get a four day pass starting at $50 and discounted car club and multiple entry tickets start at $30.
“I also want to encourage the local Alice Springs community to get involved as spectators or volunteers,” Mr Giles said.
“The Red CentreNATS will be a family-friendly event with children 13 years and under getting in free.”
